This is a special place. It's supremely quiet, incredibly beautiful and one of the first true wilderness trails that's within a couple of hours of Toronto. We'll head up North, into the Canadian Shield and hike a landscape that's dominated by barrens, pristine lakes and pines. The barrens are a unique phenomenon with some of the oldest exposed rock on earth that makes for a really scenic out and back hike of about 8km. We're unlikely to see many people, if anyone all day.
We have some spots that are so special that we feel an obligation to keep them from getting over-run. We've spent months poring over maps and scouting out locations that sometimes very few other people have visited. WU is the circle of trust where we share these places on the understanding that we keep them between members so they stay special and most importantly, protected.
Self drivers - this is about a 1hr 45 drive away with easy road access.

Member Organized Event Disclaimer
Member-led outings are organized by our community, not by Wilderness Union. We don’t manage the plans, staff, or safety protocols, so you join at your own risk. Please look out for yourself and one another, and have fun!
Food and Drink
You'll need to bring a packed lunch and water for any of our day trips that don't explicitly say we're making a stop at a restaurant. Where we stop at restaurants, you are responsible for the purchase of any food. Full details are available at the adventure plan, shared above on registration.
Carbon Offsetting
Wilderness Union offsets the estimated carbon emissions of every trip by investing in a global portfolio of verified carbon reduction projects.
