This is a special place that few people know about, and we'd like to keep it that way.
Come along as we hike into a little known part of the Canadian Shield. It’s a unique landscape of barrens ( some of the oldest exposed rock on earth), still lakes and pine that we will experience along this 11km out and back. It's one of the first true wilderness trails within a couple of hours of Toronto.
It's supremely quiet out there. We're unlikely to see many people, if anyone, all day.
This is beaver country, and the trail is shaped by the animals that live here. We'll explore the dams along the way and learn how nature's engineers get their work done.
Some places are so special that we feel an obligation to keep them from getting over-run. WU is the circle of trust where we share them, on the understanding that they stay between members so they stay protected. Once you register, you'll get the precise location.

Hidden Gem - Known to few, this wild spot will have loads of solitude that will allow you to truly unplug from the city buzz
Beaver Dams and Ponds: Look for lodges, gnawed stumps and flooded stretches of trail. The ponds shift the route a little every season.
Untouched Wilderness: This is wild ground, not a manicured park. Expect long stretches where the only sounds are wind, water and the animals going about their day.
