Some of the best trail guides we've met walk on four legs.
We're meeting a group of the cutest rescue dogs from our friends at a local rescue for a 7 km walk along the winding Muskoka River. It's a good escape from the city, and an equally exciting day out for the dogs.
The team from the rescue will join us to share stories about the dogs and the incredible work that goes into finding them forever homes. After the hike, we will offer plenty of head scratches (to the dogs, please do not pet the humans) before heading to a nearby waterfall for a peaceful lunch. It is the perfect setting to switch off and soak in the stillness of the woods.
The pace is relaxed and set by the dogs. If they're getting tired, we may shorten the route, so the full distance isn't guaranteed.
$10 from every registration goes to the rescue to help them find forever homes for dogs in need.
To keep the dogs calm and focused, we can't allow personal pets on this one.
