Description

Adorable rescue dogs and a hike through the spectacular scenery that Muskoka has to offer, what could be better?

We're starting this adventure by meeting with the puppies from a local rescue. They're excited to have the dogs stretch their paws with an easy 7km hike that traces the gorgeous Muskoka river which may be frozen this time of year. We will venture along pine-fringed shores and easy trails through dense snow covered forest.

The lovely helpers from the rescue will walk with us and answer any questions you may have about the dogs and what goes into caring and adopting rescue dogs. Once the hike is done we will say goodbye with lots of head scratches before stopping for lunch next to a partially frozen waterfall. You'll have a chance to switch off from the worries of the city and take in some incredibly peaceful views.

This hike is in one of Wilderness Union's secret locations that we don't share publicly - you'll get the precise location once you've registered for the trip but it's close to Bracebridge in Muskoka. Our secret locations are places you won't have visited before and are typically super quiet as the secret hasn't yet got out.

No personal dogs are allowed on this event.

A portion of the cost of the trip will also be donated to the dog rescue to support them in their goal of finding good forever homes for dogs in need.

What to Expect on a WU Trip

Is a Wilderness Union Trip Right for You?
We offer a unique alternative to commercial tours. We don't just show you incredible natural wonders, we teach you to become confident in nature so you can discover the life changing magic of the outdoors. You'll love it here if:
- You want to make real friends, not just small talk with strangers
- You prefer "off the beaten path" over "all-inclusive resort"
- You're happy to pitch in and learn new skills (e.g., helping with camp setup or group tasks)
- You value the journey and the company as much as the destination

Who Else Will Be There
WU is aimed at a younger generation of outdoor lovers who don't see themselves represented in traditional hiking clubs and our members are typically 20-40 years old. Whether you're brand new to the outdoors or have plenty of experience, you'll find something for you.

Our Guides
All of our guides are highly qualified, passionate outdoor lovers, just like you. They love to share their knowledge and will help you see our destinations in another light, often teaching you something along the trail.
