Join us as we explore a part of the Niagara Escarpment that doesn't just rise up, but cracks open.
This is a 400-acre conservation area where the limestone has split into deep fissures and hidden hollows. We'll walk it on an 8.5km loop that starts and finishes at the same trailhead, through forest, along the edges of open fields, and across patches of bare limestone.
The caves are the centrepiece, and we reach them along the Keyhole Side Trail. The ground drops away into crevices, snow often lingers in them into June, and some of it is a long way down. We’ll take our time to explore the unique terrain of this UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
Afterwards, we'll head into Creemore for an hour. It's a small village between the Mad and Noisy rivers, with independent eateries and shops along the main street. Creemore Springs Brewery is right in town, and stopping in is entirely optional. If you'd rather wander with a coffee, that's just as good.

Secluded Caves: A maze of rocky scrambles, small caves, and crevices tucked into the Escarpment, with ferns, moss, and old cedars growing in the gaps.
Escarpment Views: Open fields break up the forest along the trail, with the Niagara Escarpment rising and falling around you the whole way.
Visit Creemore: An easy village to explore on foot, with time for a coffee, a bite to eat, or a look around before we head back to the city.
