Description

Hey friends! We're back with another WU social—this time we’re heading west for an evening walk and picnic along the Humber River!

Our route will follow the Humber River Recreational Trail south, winding through scenic highlights like James Gardens and Lambton Woods. Along the way, we’ll stop for a laid-back picnic dinner, so pack something tasty and bring a blanket if you like!

We’ll end the walk at Old Mill Station. This one's great if you’re looking to explore a new slice of the city and enjoy a midweek nature reset 🌿

Hey friends! I’m Emily, your Wilderness Union member social volunteer 🥳 and I’m back with another Wednesday night adventure—this time we’re heading west for an evening walk and picnic along the Humber River!

We’ll meet at Weston GO at 6:00 PM and set off around 6:15. Our route will follow the Humber River Recreational Trail south, winding through scenic highlights like James Gardens and Lambton Woods. Along the way, we’ll stop for a laid-back picnic dinner, so pack something tasty and bring a blanket if you like!

We’ll end the walk at Old Mill Station, wrapping things up around 9ish. This one's great if you’re looking to explore a new slice of the city and enjoy a midweek nature reset 🌿

Highlights

18:00 – Meet at Weston GO Station (north exit)

18:15 – Begin walk along the Humber River Recreational Trail

19:15 – Picnic dinner stop in James Gardens or nearby

21:00 – Wrap up at Old Mill Station

The walk is ~7 km on a mostly paved trail with gentle hills. Bring water, wear comfy shoes, and pack your own picnic dinner/snacks.

Carbon Offsetting
Wilderness Union offsets the estimated carbon emissions of every trip by investing in a global portfolio of verified carbon reduction projects.

What to Expect on a WU Trip

Is a Wilderness Union Trip Right for You?
We offer a unique alternative to commercial tours. We don't just show you incredible natural wonders, we teach you to become confident in nature so you can discover the life changing magic of the outdoors. You'll love it here if:
- You want to make real friends, not just small talk with strangers
- You prefer "off the beaten path" over "all-inclusive resort"
- You're happy to pitch in and learn new skills (e.g., helping with camp setup or group tasks)
- You value the journey and the company as much as the destination

Who Else Will Be There
WU is aimed at a younger generation of outdoor lovers who don't see themselves represented in traditional hiking clubs and our members are typically 20-40 years old. Whether you're brand new to the outdoors or have plenty of experience, you'll find something for you.

Our Guides
All of our guides are highly qualified, passionate outdoor lovers, just like you. They love to share their knowledge and will help you see our destinations in another light, often teaching you something along the trail.
