Welcome to The Epics!
Through this series, we will embark together on five of the most legendary and challenging adventures anywhere in Ontario.
History
Arguably the greatest camping destination in Ontario, those who have been to the vast wilderness of Temagami know just how special it is. The location has been the homeland of the Teme-Augama Anishnabai First Nation for over 9,000 years. It’s a humbling place with seemingly unending forest, an incomprehensible number of lakes and incredible sights around every corner that remind you of nature’s true magic.
What You Need to Know
This 5 day, 60km route will take you through some of the area's greatest landmarks. You'll visit the endangered old-growth pine forests of Wolf Lake, swim in the waters of a secret lagoon, climb a mountain with an unbelievable lookout and even discover some ancient indigenous pictographs. It will be a challenging trip with over 4km of total portaging and about 15km of paddling a day.
The paddling will be on a mixture of large lakes and smaller waterways and you can expect to be paddling for about 6 hours a day. The challenge here is real but rewarding. Because we’re on Crown Land, the portages will be more rugged and the navigation more technical than what you’d find in other parks.
There are no formal campsites here. Each night, we'll set up camp, sleeping under incredible night skies. In the morning, we break camp and continue along our epic journey.
This loop is raw and unforgiving, there is no denying but for those willing to embrace the deep wild, Temagami offers a truly ancient and unforgettable backcountry experience.
What's Included:
Epics are mentally and physically demanding adventures, and participation isn’t automatically guaranteed. These expeditions require skill, determination and teamwork to get through.
To help ensure a safe and rewarding experience for all, anyone who has not previously completed an Epic will need to fill out a short questionnaire so we can assess readiness together.
Your level of fitness and outdoors experience will play a role in this process. Having certain adventures under your belt will ensure you have the right skills and preparation for these kinds of experiences. These include:
If you register for an Epic and are not approved, you will receive a refund in full.
