Calling all Wilderness Union foodies!
For our next monthly Cooking Club potluck (and our first outdoor event of 2026), we’ll each be cooking appetizers and bringing our dishes to share! The cookbook we’ve chosen is Graze: Inspiration for Small Plates and Meandering Meals by Suzanne Lenzer. It’s an accessible, mouthwatering collection of more than 80 recipes for small bites, tapas, and charcuterie spreads.
Grazing means skipping from dish to dish, tasting different things without committing to a single one. It’s about creating multiple dishes that work together as a meal, that all share a theme, an aesthetic.Chapters are organized by level of involvement, from simply slicing veggies (“Mostly Chopping”) to cooking up lavish spreads (“Worth the Effort”). Whip up fast and easy Prosciutto, Asparagus, and Arugula Rolls and Three-Tomato Panzanella on a busy weeknight, or indulge in Flaky Cheddar Biscuits with Heirloom Tomatoes and Peaches, Shredded Potato Cakes with Ramps, and Lemon-Tarragon Chicken Skewers on the weekend. And to finish off the meal, try desserts like Brown Butter Brownies and Lemon-Lavender Posset.
Whether you’re already a fan of appetizers or curious to learn more, come have fun, share your dish, and connect with fellow WU food lovers over a seriously good meal.
This is a no-pressure, beginner-friendly club! There are simple recipes to choose from and easy ingredient swaps if needed.
Please note that this is a member-organized event.

Other than my dish, what else do I bring?
Bring your own plate, bowl, mug, and cutlery to eat with, along with any serving utensils you need. Feel free to bring beverages for yourself or to share (bonus if they’re on theme).
Where do I sign up for a recipe?
Check the Discord event thread under Upcoming Adventures to access the Google Doc where recommended cookbook recipes will be posted. You can see what everyone has chosen and pick one for yourself that fits the group’s menu.
Can I heat up or chill food at this event?
No, this is one of our outdoor club meetups – so there’s no heating or cooling available. Feel free to bring your own appliance or a cooler. We recommend selecting a dish that tastes good at different temperatures and holds up well!
