Ever hung out at 10,000 feet?
We're teaming up with Altitude Athletic Training for a social inside their altitude chamber in downtown Toronto. Altitude helps outdoor enthusiasts build the strength, stamina and endurance to make the most of their time on the trails. Their facility features the world's largest simulated-altitude training space, recreating the oxygen conditions of 10,000 feet above sea level. Training in this environment helps your body adapt to reduced oxygen levels, building cardiovascular fitness, improving endurance and supporting pre-acclimatization for higher elevations. It's a training advantage for everything from weekend hikes to bucket-list mountain adventures. Less time catching your breath. More time enjoying the view.
The chamber will be running at altitude for the night, so you'll get a real feel for life at 10,000 feet, with a drink in hand.
Earlier that day, a group of Explorers and Altitude members will have taken on the Summit Training Hike on the Niagara Escarpment. The social is where everyone comes together afterwards. You don't need to have been on the hike to join. If you'd like a night out with the WU community and a room full of people who love a challenge, come along.
Your $5 ticket gets you in, with food and drinks on us. Drop in any time between 5 pm and 9 pm, swap trail stories, make plans for the winter and see the space for yourself.
This social is exclusive to Explorer members.

Where can I find important updates about this social in the days leading up to it?
If you're on the WU Discord, follow the thread for this adventure under the 'Upcoming Adventures' channel. Otherwise, look out for email updates from us and reach out with any questions.
Will the chamber really be at altitude?
Yes. It will be running at simulated altitude for the social. Most people feel fine, but take it easy, drink water and step out if you feel unwell. If you have a heart or lung condition, or are pregnant, check with your doctor first.
Do I need to have done the Summit Training Hike to come?
Not at all. The social is open to all Explorers, whether you were on the hike or not.
I'm booked on the Summit Training Hike. Do I need a ticket for this too?
No. The social is already included in your hike booking.
Can I bring a guest?
Not for this one. Spaces are limited and it's an Explorer-exclusive event.
