We're running a free adventure for all members to Rouge Urban Park. For those who haven't visited - it's pretty special. It's Canada's first national urban park and is unique as the only National Park within the GTA and is one of the largest urban parks in North America.
We'll be taking advantage of the changing of the seasons and leaves that are starting to transition with an 8km loop that combines the Vista and Mast Trails, suitable for hikers of all skill levels. The trail starts at a well-marked trailhead and features a mix of terrains, from flat paths to gentle hills. The Vista Trail provides elevated viewpoints, giving us a clear look at the surrounding hills and river valleys.
Transitioning onto the Mast Trail, we'll walk along a historic logging route dating back to the 1800s. The mature trees offer a welcome shade, their canopy filtering dappled sunlight onto the forest floor. Keep an eye out for local wildlife, with beavers and the occasional deer grazing in the underbrush.
This easily accessible 8km loop is a wonderful way to connect with nature, offering moments of peace and beauty just a stone's throw from the city. Best of all, this experience is free for all members, making it a perfect opportunity to see what WU is all about!
