Adventure Description

This is a pretty special trip that most people will never get a chance to experience - backcountry camping at Bruce Peninsula National Park. The park is one of the most popular spots in the park system and there are just a handful of backcountry spots with extremely limited availability. This year, we've been lucky enough to get some for what will be an amazing long weekend.

The Bruce Peninsula is famous for its gorgeous limestone landscapes and crystal clear turquoise water. There's really nowhere else quite like it in Ontario. Nearby is one of Canada's most iconic hikes to the Grotto, a ridiculously pretty natural cave and swimming spot.

The Grotto

We'll be spending most of the weekend far away from the crowds at the grotto, at a cliff top and beach level campsite. We'll carry in everything we need for the weekend on our back, with a short walk in to our sites on the first day and a longer hike the next day to the second campsite. When there, we'll be able to swim in Georgian bay, hike the nearby trails and at night, we'll cross our fingers for what should be truly incredible stargazing.

Day 1 hiking will be a relatively easy 4km with a day 2 hike that's harder at approximately 8km, laden down with backpacks.

Campsites at Storm Haven

There is nothing quite like being self sufficient in the backcountry and doing it at this location will make it all the more special.

Space for this trip is limited to just 8 people and because the hiking is challenging, only suitable for members with a high level of fitness. Not sure if you're fit enough? Simply send a message and we'll discuss it! We'll have a couple of spots reserved for members who missed out on previous trips before opening up reservation to the wider group.

You have the option of having all meals and equipment provided or bringing your own. Because there are only 2 tents allowed per site, we'll be sharing tents but, we'll organize a social beforehand to meet everyone who's coming and figure out who's sharing with whom!

We'll all travel up for this adventure together because limited parking and expensive permitting mean that it's significantly more expensive to self drive.

Renting Camping Gear

We have full camping kits for rent containing:

  • Backpack
  • Sleeping mat
  • Pillow
  • Sleeping bag
  • Tent
  • Stove+gas
  • Basic cook kit and cutlery

We'll do our best to pair each other up for the tents.

Meal Option

Members without serious allergies have the option of having all meals provided. You'll get:

  • 2x Hot Dinners on Friday and Saturday (Likely dehydrated meals)
  • 2x Cold lunch on Saturday and Sunday (Likely a wrap)
  • 2x Hot breakfast on Saturday and Sunday
